Love Demonstrated
Although this is an entry for Between Mothers, my husband has some provoking thoughts that are worth reading. This is an excerpt from our family Christmas letter in 2007.

I hate to rake leaves. Every weekend for two months in the fall, we rake leaves—a lot of leaves.
A few weeks ago, I told our sons, John (12) and Nate (9), that when I arrived home we would go outside and rake. Later that day as I drove into our driveway, the garage door opened and out came John. He asked me, “Where do you want me to get started, Dad?”
His question warmed my heart. On his own initiative when he heard me arrive home, John remembered my earlier instructions and came out to accomplish the task. John has displayed more wisdom at the age of twelve than I did when I was his same age. He often amazes me.
Questions to Ponder
I wonder if I am that attentive in listening to the voice of my heavenly Father. Do I love Him so much that I obey Him without further prodding? In the routine of my day, do I listen for His presence?
Every once in a while Jesus was amazed at the faith of certain people (especially children) who simply trusted and obeyed Him.1 I think He was amazed at a little boy like John.
Prayer: Dear God, help me to be like John as I follow Your Son, the living Lord Jesus.
