Girl with the White Hat
The painting of the girl putting her little toe in the ocean reminds me of God’s vast love for me—something that I have struggled to understand and believe for years.
Our Priceless Privilege
God’s love is like a vast ocean of delight. How can I learn to swim in it? First of all for me to swim, the ocean must be warm. I never swim in freezing cold water. I can’t relax and enjoy it.
A cold ocean is a picture of a half-hearted relationship. Oh sure, I can swim in it, but I cannot relax. But a Florida or Cancun ocean is warm. And I love to not only swim in it, but I’ll also enjoy it.
A constant relationship with God is warm, not cold. But in order to enjoy a warm relationship with God, I need daily unhurried time alone with Him—reading the Bible and talking to Him.
While in West Palm Beach viewing the vast ocean, I wish I could paint and capture it all. The ocean water is in full shimmer: sparkling and glistening. Later when I walk down to the beach, I’ll first put my toes in. But this water will be so warm that I’ll end up immersed.
In this same way, I also want to experience Jesus’ love. As I dip my toes into the Bible each day, I want to become immersed in His love. And when I am fully immersed, I know that I will have only begun to touch Jesus’ love.
