Summer Vacation 2009
Three cheers for summer vacation: Hip hip hooray!
After a busy and productive winter, I can celebrate several accomplishments with satisfaction and thanksgiving: finishing my website, speaking in Michigan and Indiana (working through my fear of public speaking), traveling to Hilton Head for an artist’s reception, mentoring a young woman, and watching our boys play soccer. Whew. But it’s time to clear my calendar and rest.
This summer instead of hunching over my computer or pouring myself into a painting, I will be savoring the following activities:
Roasting marshmallows by the campfire with our two youngest sons
Settling arguments between our boys
Awaiting the birth of our first grandchild
Chatting by the pool with my dear friends
Letting go—after years of attempting to reconcile—of a relationship
Holding hands with my husband on evening walks
Grilling chicken with our oldest son on his days off
Learning to lower my (unrealistic) expectations for my husband
So I won’t be adding any new blog entries this summer. But I’ll be back in September. Revitalized.
…hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray!
PS: The painting above is by guest artist, Caroline, a very talented 14 year old.
