Art for Honor
Hearing Our Heroes
The Art for Honor exhibition provides a platform for veterans to express themselves through art and storytelling. This initiative, in partnership with Kent County Veterans Services and Pamela Alderman, bridges the gap between veterans and the broader community by encouraging education and understanding. The coaching aspect of the project helps veterans translate their thoughts and emotions into meaningful artistic works to cope with their unique experiences. The project offers an opportunity for the veterans to sell their art to empower them and validate their work. Art for Honor promotes empathetic listening, because being heard is a part of healing.
“The Art for Honor program gives Michigan veterans the opportunity to tell their stories creatively through their art. Giving veterans the chance to share their experiences through art helps them process what they’ve been through, heal, and encourage other veterans to share their stories.”
