Spending intentional time with my grandson is one of my life’s sweetest joys. This summer, we created a tulip-inspired painting—a fun experience for both of us.
We began by painting a large wooden board with warm reds, yellows, and oranges. I gently guided the process while he poured the different colors onto the board. His favorite part? Using a roller to spread the colors across the surface. Every step was an adventure filled with discovery and paint-stained fingers—and toes!

The next day, after the first layer had dried, I taped off tulip shapes across our colorful background (watch the video below). Then came the greens—dark, medium, and light. Watching my grandson pour, blend, and roll the colors was pure delight. His creativity was contagious.
After everything dried, I removed the tape to reveal the bright flowers and finished the piece with a coat of varnish to give it a polished look. The final painting was a masterpiece, a memory we made together.
