OPEN HANDS

Open Hands was a participatory art project by Pamela Alderman that invited visitors to trace their handprint on a world map and answer the question, “What can you do to help heal our broken world?” Each handprint became a pledge of action, a move toward compassion, justice, and healing. As the map filled with colorful tracings and responses, the artwork transformed into a collective vision of hope. From New York City to San Francisco, 2500 participants of all ages and backgrounds contributed, showing that our shared humanity unites us. Though our world faces enormous challenges, each of us can make a difference by opening our hands to others.
