YELLOW RIBBON

Yellow Ribbon was a large-scale participatory art project led by artist Pamela Alderman that invited the public to write messages of hope and encouragement for members of the military. Over three years, more than 30,000 notes were collected from people of all ages and backgrounds, each one a tangible expression of care and solidarity. Bundled together and sent overseas, these messages reminded deployed soldiers that they were not forgotten and that their service was deeply valued. The project not only uplifted the soldiers, but also strengthened community bonds at home, allowing participants to experience the healing power of gratitude and generosity.
